Day 1: Board The Maharaja Express at Delhi
The guests will reach and assemble at the Safdarjung Railway Station by 2030 hours in the evening and finish all the registration and check in formalities and welcomed in a traditional Indian style when they board The Maharaja Express. The guests are served a welcome drink when they board the train and can enjoy the luxury and comfort apart from the famed Indian hospitality. They get a chance to relax in this luxurious train after they board it.
The Maharaja Express departs from Safdarjung Railway Station by 2200 hours and starts the journey to Agra. The guests are served a lavish dinner onboard and they can choose from a wide range of delicacies that will surely be liked by them.
Day 2: Agra
The Maharaja Express will reach Agra in the morning and it is globally renowned for Taj Mahal, a monument dedicated to Love. The city also served as the capital of India during the Mughal rule and reached its zenith during the rule of Shah Jahan. He was a great patron of art and culture and responsible for many famous historical monuments that were built in Agra. It has always been one of the leading art and culture destinations since old times.
You will visit Taj Mahal and witness its unmatched beauty in close detail and the experience promises to be one of the finest in your life. This monument of Love took more than 20 years and hard work of more than 20,000 persons to complete. Taj Mahal was built to commemorate the memory of Mumtaz Mahal, the third and beloved wife of Shah Jahan. It is built with white marble and has captured the imagination of everyone from all over the world.
Then the guests are served with Champagne breakfast at Taj Khema that overlooks the Taj Mahal. You can return to the train OR can go and visit Fatehpur Sikri OR see the Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah. The lunch will be served onboard the train.
Post lunch you will be going to Agra Fort that was an important place during the Mughal rule and it used to be one of the strongly guarded places. Agra Fort has been linked to many important events in the history and the architecture of this place can make a big impression on anyone. The peaceful and serene environs of this place will lift your spirits and this is one of the best places to visit during the Gems of India Tour.
You also have the option of going for Luxury Spa at a hotel OR shopping for antique jewellery and local products at local markets. Then you return and board The Maharaja Express and will be served dinner onboard. The train will continue its journey to Sawai Madhopur.
Day 3: Ranthambore – Jaipur
The train will reach Sawai Madhopur in early morning and this is an ideal time to go for safari to the Ranthambore National Park. This park is famous for tigers and it served as the hunting park of Royal families in old times. It is an ideal place to spot the big cats and other animals like wild boar, sloth bear, hyena, jackal, sambar, nilgai and leopard. You may not see the tiger easily but if you do you must consider yourself really fortunate.
After safari you will go and enjoy breakfast at Vivanta by Taj, Sawai Madhopur and return and board The Maharaja Express after the meal. The train will then continue and start its journey towards Jaipur.
Jaipur is the capital city of Rajasthan and it has played an important part in the history of Rajasthan. This beautiful city is renowned for being a well planned city and it was built following classical Indian architectural techniques. Jaipur continues to fascinate everyone due to its beauty and a large number of old palaces, forts and temples that ensure that it maintains a unique and cherished place in the minds of everyone.
Your first stop in Jaipur will be at the historic Amber Fort that is one of the finest examples of the rich architectural heritage of old times. The construction of this fort was started in 1592 during the rule of Raja Man Singh I and completed when Raja Jai Singh was the King. This beautiful fort has been built using red sandstone and white marble that is found in abundance in surrounding areas.
After Amber Fort, you get a chance to shop for local items like ethnic wear, handicraft items and blue pottery that showcase the skills of local craftsmen. Then you will be served lunch onboard The Maharaja Express and relax there.
You get an option to either go for spa at a luxury hotel OR enjoy shopping tour OR go for a round of Golf at the Rambagh Golf Club OR Visit City Palace and Jantar Mantar (The Observatory) which are quite famous.
The evening is going to be really exciting as you are welcomed at Jai Mahal Palace hotel and the welcome given is fit for a King. You can then enjoy an exciting Elephant Polo Match and relax in this amazing atmosphere. Then after this match is finished the guests are treated to a special Champagne dinner and the large number of delicacies is fit for royalty and is the best way to end a hectic and exciting day.
After dinner the guests will board The Maharaja Express and it will depart for the last leg of its journey to Delhi.
Day 4: The Maharaja Express Returns to Delhi
The train reaches Delhi in the morning and guests are served a lavish breakfast as it is the last meal of this journey. They can depart after that to their respective destinations.
