Day 2: Jaipur

The Maharaja Express will reach the city of Jaipur in the morning. The guests will be served breakfast onboard The Maharaja Express. Then the tour of Jaipur will commence and the first stop will be the Jai Mahal Palace hotel. After the lunch your next stop will be the Amber Fort. The Maharaja Express will reach Fatehpur Sikri after some time. This old and famous city was built as a walled city by the Mughal rulers to protect it from any kind of outside invasion. Fatehpur Sikri boasts of some famous structures like Buland-Darwazah and tomb of Sheikh Salim Chishti, Khass Mahal, Shahi-Bazar, Jama Masjid, Diwan-I-Khass and Diwan-I-Am. Day 4: Agra – Gwalior

Then you will go and visit the historic Gwalior Fort that is one of the largest forts in India and has witnessed various important events. This place was a strong garrison and also used to control the surrounding regions during old times. Day 7: Lucknow

The Maharaja Express will reach Lucknow in the morning. The city is famously known as The City of Nawabs and has a rich history and cultural legacy. The guests will be served breakfast onboard and then they can explore this historic and beautiful city.

Lucknow is located on the banks of River Gomti and it is also the capital of Uttar Pradesh. It is one the largest cities in India and the second largest city in North India. It is a very old city and is believed to be founded by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula. The city served as the capital of Nawabs of Awadh during old times and this also makes it known as The City of Nawabs. It is also well known all over the world for great food and appreciation for art and culture.

The first stop in Lucknow will be the Bara Imambara and it was built during the reign of Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula in the year 1784. It is a beautiful and grand structure and is also famously known as the Asafi Imambara. This is one of the most visited places in Lucknow and attracts a large number of visitors every day. The architecture of Bara Imambara is a treat for the eyes and reveals the architectural progress of those times. The whole complex also boasts of a large Asfi mosque, the bhulbhulayah or the labyrinth besides a bowli, a step well with running water.

The main vaulted central chamber has the tomb of Asaf-ud-Daula. The chamber is 50 by 16 meters and more than 15 meters tall and is no supported by any beams and this makes it one of the largest arched constructions in the entire world. An 18 meter high Rumi Darwaza serves as the western entrance of this historic structure. This building can certainly be called the pride of this city and will surely make a mark on your memory.

The next landmark will be the British Residency of Lucknow and it is one of the most famous historic places in the city. This place also served as the refuge for almost 3000 British citizens during the Indian Rebellion of 1857.
