Day 1: Start your Journey on Maharaja Express from Delhi
All the guests will reach and assemble together at Safdarjung Railway Station by 0800 hours in the morning. You will complete all the registration and check in formalities and welcomed in a traditional Indian style when you board The Maharaja Express. All the guests are also served a welcome drink as they board The Maharaja Express.
The train departs Safdarjung Railway Station at 0930 and starts the journey to Agra. The guests are served a hearty brunch onboard the train.
The Maharaja Express will reach the legendary city of Agra that is globally renowned as the home of Taj Mahal. The city used to be the capital of India during the Mughal rule and a leading destination for art and culture. Agra boasts of a rich local handicrafts industry that in renowned for ethnic products and craft items. It is also famous for its richly embroidered zari work that is treasured and liked by all the tourists coming to Agra.
The first stop will be Agra Fort that is located at a close distance to Taj Mahal. It is one of the most beautiful historical monuments that were built during the Mughal rule. The architecture and grandness of Agra Fort will surely impress everyone and it used to symbolize power and resilience during old times. It is also popularly known as Lal-Qila or Qila-i-Akbari and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its importance.
Then the guests are served with Champagne Hi Tea at the charming Taj Khema that overlooks the beautiful Taj Mahal. They can witness the unmatched beauty of the Taj Mahal as the sun sets and provides a mystical touch to this famous historical landmark.
You can go for various options like a leisurely Spa at a 5 star hotel OR Go shopping at an old market for antique jewellery OR Visit the famous Itmad-Ud-Daulah Tomb. Then you will come back and board The Maharaja Express and dinner will be served onboard.
Day 2: Agra – Ranthambore
After breakfast onboard you will leave the train and visit the world famous Taj Mahal and get to see the beauty that has made it one of the most popular historical destinations in the whole world. This was built in the memory of Mumtaz Mahal and it took more than 20 years to build this wonderful place that is dedicated to eternal Love. It attracts millions of people every year and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the year 1983.
Then you will board The Maharaja Express and it will start the journey to Ranthambore National Park and lunch will be served onboard. You get a chance to admire the shifting landscape and the view will keep you enthralled during the entire journey.
The train will reach Sawai Madhopur in the afternoon and the guests will be first served Hi Tea at Vivanta by Taj, Sawai Madhopur. The safari will take you to the Ranthambore National Park which is renowned for Royal Bengal Tiger. You can also spot chital, sambar, nilgai, wild boar, sloth bear, jackal, hyena and leopard. It may not be easy to spot a tiger but if you spot one you can surely think you are indeed really fortunate to see it.
Then the guests will board the Maharaja Express after the safari is completed and relax in the comfort and luxury offered by the train. You can enjoy the dinner served onboard and meanwhile the train will head to Jaipur for the next part of the journey.
Day 3: Jaipur
The train will reach Jaipur city in the morning and it is the capital city of Rajasthan. The city is a fine example of great architecture and town planning making it one of the most well planned cities in the world. The construction of Jaipur was started during the reign of Raja Jai Singh in the 18th century. The city is also popularly known as Pink City as some old buildings in the city were painted pink during old times.
Then you will be welcomed like a King at Jai Mahal Palace hotel and the ceremonial military band and Nagadas will welcome your arrival. You will witness an exciting Exhibition Elephant Polo Match. You can also join as a player if you do not mind playing this exciting game that is full of excitement. The match will be followed by Champagne lunch and you get a chance to taste great food that will delight your senses.
The next destination will be the glorious Amber Fort that is set in the middle of hills near Jaipur. This fort is a great mix of architecture and showcases the fusion of Indian and Mughal artistic styles. It has been built using red sandstone and white marble that is found easily in the surrounding areas. The charm of this place is still intact and it is one of the best places to visit and explore during your journey.
Then you can also shop for various local made products like jewellery, textiles, blue pottery and ethnic products at the local markets and enjoy this experience. You also have the option of going for Spa OR indulge in private shopping OR play golf at the Rambagh Golf Club OR visit the City Palace and Jantar Mantar (The Observatory).
You will return and board the train and the dinner will be served onboard and the train will depart from Jaipur.
Day 4: Return to Delhi and End of Journey
The Maharaja Express will reach Delhi in the morning and Treasures of India Journey will end and you will start your journey back home.
